Feature Art from Al Burts

Inspired by religious themes & the beauty of Americans whose roots are African, Alvin's work seizes upon the range of emotions emanating from the absolute innocence of youth with color, texture, shape and lines at the core of his artistic expressions.

Influenced by his grandmother and mother as a boy growing up in Alexandria, Virginia, Alvin received his formal training at the prestigious Duke Ellington School of the Arts and the world-renowned Virginia Commonwealth University.

Alvin reverently referred to his amazing artistic skills as, "God's gift to him." "God works through me," Alvin says, " to have those who see my work to walk away feeling changed."

His works, "Job 14:14, " is a stunning collection of images. The project serenely captures the scripture: "If a man die, shall he live again? All the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come."

Alvin's work has been commissioned by several private collectors Such as Dan Wilkenson ( Washington Redskins) and Peggy Cooper Cafritz.. In addition, his work has been exhibited at the Department of the Army, the Sankofa Gallery in Upper Marlboro and the Graham Collection in Washington, D.C. as well as staff exhibitions at the National Gallery of Art.
